Why I Love FemThought

I discovered today that my sexual politics are at odds with the heteropatriarchal systems of realist belonging. Any help on what that actually means would be appreciated.

Hmmm...
Is this sarcasm or earnest truth. I'll go for sarcasm and wonder aloud whether you've been encountering conservative feminists who believe that it's not possible to have a politic that critiques sexual conservatism and be in absolute opposition to all things hetero and patriarchal. It's and old and tired argument. I was surprised to come to the blogosphere and find its proponents thriving so nicely and stubbornly. Depressing.

It was partially sarcastic - more making fun of jargon than of any real idea.

The quote came from a theatre article whieh posited that feminist were more and more reacting against a theatrical mode which required realism and reflected a patriarchal view of character and text (that is, that stories about men are fundamentally more important, and that stories about women can only be stories about women and not universal stories, which a story about a man can be.)

But yes, I have been asked more frequently than I ever imagined how I could stand up for sex and feminism at the same time. Like I'm being a bad feminist for thinking that straight women aren't de facto oppressed by their own sexuality.
